I found it very difficult to explain to the girls yesteday what this memorial is all about. How on earth do you explain to two 7 year olds that each flag repesents a life of someone who died before you were born?
I did my best and tried to get them to undestand that they were to act respectfully and not run crazy like they wanted to through the flags.
A bugler was on site and played a few times...it was really haunting to me hearing it within the rows of flags.
