This morning Camryn had her evaluation with Mesa Public Schools. She was tested for vision, hearing and behavioral and developemental issues.
Vision: no problems with her eyes
Hearing: right ear tympanogram...slight movement in the ear drum but not normal. Left ear totally flat....no movement. She is definately having some problems with her left ear.
Behavioral and Developmental: she passed all that was required of her....even with her typical toddler funkiness about strangers! She was peopled out and did not want to do a few things requested of her....like walking a straight line and jumping. She also did not want to answer questions at all.
We had a speech pathologist ask her questions and name pictures from a book with my prompting. She seemed to think that Camryn was making all the correct sounds for her age. This is from what we could coax out of her. They did sign me up for further review of her speech in 4 months. So we can go back in June and see what is happening.
I am relieved to say the least. The most interesting thing is that her enuciation was what concerned me and we started with her hearing first. We would never have know about her eardrums if I had not voiced my concerns!
I am just glad we are on a path to get her help so she can hear better. Thank God that I was wrong about her speech!
