Riparian Preserve

Yesterday, I planned a group outing for the twins club to go to the Gilbert Riparian Preserve. This is a 110 acre preserve in the middle of the city. It is a true gem. The Audobon Society was there and took us on a nature walk through the preserve. We saw so many birds it was amazing. There were even three rare birds in the park that were usually not there. We looked but did not see them this time :). They gave us a Bird Bingo card to carry with us, so when we saw any of the birds on the card we could cross them off. We saw atleast three or more birds which were not even on the cards.

The pictures are of a Blue Heron and the bird's nest belongs to a Verdin. We saw vultures, falcons, owls, ducks, egrets, osprey's and a little brown rabbit. The girls were tired toward the end of the hike. I really enjoyed myself. I was a bit disappointed that the turnout was very low. It was me and two other families. We have a giant sized club but hardly any participation, it makes me sad.

By the way, I did take these pictures myself. They turned out great if I don't say so myself.
