Yesterday we took the girls to a nursing home to trick-or-treat. This was coordinated through our church and we went with a large group of moms in our MOPS group.
I really wanted to take the girls so that they could have early exposure to community service. This was a very simple way that they could brighten other peoples lives just by being themselves....ok...dressed up as ballerinas. The people at the facility were absolutely thrilled to see all the children in costumes. They of course wanted to visit with the children...A and C did not want anything to do with that. Some of the children were terrific and really interacted with the elderly folks. I hope that we can continue to foster this in A and C in the future. By the way, they did receive tons of candy also!
We also took the girls out to several homes in the neighborhood later that night. We got a chance to talk to more of our neighbors. The girls went to bed about 7:15 and we left the candy bowl out on the porch so that the doorbell did not ring constantly. The kids were really great about taking the candy. I was impressed. We did go through two giant bags of candy plus some that we received earlier that morning at the care center.
